First developed by NASA for use in the space industry, the dichroic coating is made up of micro thin layers of precious metal oxides i.e.gold, silver, titanium, magnesium, silicon etc. laid down on a base of clear or black glass by being vapourised by an electron beam in a vacuum furnace. The results are vibrant colours and patterns that transmit one colour while reflecting another. Each piece of glass has been cut by hand, ground, layered placed in a kiln and fired to a high temperature ( fused ) sometimes several times. The results are beautiful unique pieces of jewellery.
